Measles Outbreak in South Carolina: 27 New Cases, Total 111
The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has reported a concerning development in the ongoing measles outbreak. As of Tuesday, 27 new cases have been identified across the state since Friday, bringing the total number of cases related to the Upstate outbreak to 111. This outbreak has now affected a total of 114 individuals in the state this year.
Health officials have confirmed that 16 of the new cases are linked to exposure at the Way of Truth Church in Inman. The situation is critical, with 254 people currently quarantined and 16 in isolation. The DPH has also provided valuable insights into the demographics of those affected by the outbreak.
The statistics reveal the following age distribution among those with measles in the Upstate outbreak:
- Under 5: 20
- 5-17: 75
- 18-plus: 10
- Minors under 18 (age undisclosed): 6
